UNLEARN IS AN “EDUCATIONAL” series of games FOR ADULTS TO THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX.

Have you ever been stuck in a creative rut, where every idea feels cliché or unoriginal, and you just can’t break free from it? Unlearn explores the possibility of changing learned patterns of thinking to maximize creativity. By reintroducing the most preliminary games and activities that made up the developmental years of our lives, such as connecting the dots or coloring inside the lines, this project challenges the prospect of re-learning or more importantly un-learning for adults.

UNLEARN FOLlows the three principles of reaching higher potential for creativity:

collaboration,

change,

challenges.

Unlearn brings to life reformative instruction methods, challenging interfaces, and collaborative learning to push us to think outside the box through a book, an app, and a space. The workbook-like app uses a simple graphic aesthetic where every digital interaction is linked to a more physical and perhaps forgotten interaction— pulling a lever or rolling a ball — while each activity in the space and book removes the notions of rules and right or wrong.

The aim is to reverse the structuring of our rigid mindsets, to make us feel uncomfortable or overwhelmed by the newness or unfamiliarity of not knowing what to do and how to do it. This project is meant to help us reflect on how our minds work, how much of the inputs are actually our own, and how we would like to move forward with changing our thinking.
